Notes: very early show. Opened for The Smashing Pumpkins. REMASTER with much
better, clearer, more powerful sound. Fantastic work imo.

*remix notes: in terms of QOTSA’s recorded live history this show is fairly special. First, it’s an early one. Second, this was opening night of
a
roughly month-long stint Mario Lalli played & toured with QOTSA, which hasn’t happened again since. Most of those shows were dates opening for
The Smashing Pumpkins. Near the end of that month with Mario included a handful of headlining gigs. After listening to this source, it was
generally for
those reasons I felt a remix effort was worth it. The audio quality was ‘muffled’ considerably (like the mic was inside a jacket) and
an overpowering
bass drum practically distorted the levels. Thankfully some careful polishing helped, there is greater overall clarity now to
instruments and vocals,
the muffled sound is much reduced. The bass drum issue couldn’t be fixed completely, but its destructive presence on the
original recording has been
minimized a good deal. The remix is a better sounding show now, and it was a pleasure being reminded again
why I was so obsessed with this band back then.
